Greenlane Biogas Receives US$2.3 M Contract from Longneng Weiye Environment and Technology Holdings
Burnaby, BC – Greenlane Biogas has received a US$2.3 M contract from Longneng Weiye Environment and Technology Holdings, a Chinese company specializing in the recycling of agricultural and municipal solid waste into renewable energy, for the purchase of two ‘Rimu’ biogas upgrading systems. The units will be installed in Tonghe and Shangzhi counties in Heilongjiang province, where dry and wet anaerobic digesters will generate biogas from agricultural feedstock. The renewable natural gas (RNG) produced by the ‘Rimu’ units will be converted at a rate between 250 and 800 cubic metres per hour to provide compressed natural gas (CNG) to fuel natural gas vehicles (NGV).
“We are very happy to be partnering with Greenlane Biogas to utilize their water scrubbing technology to upgrade biogas to RNG,” stated Mr. Luo Guanghui, the CEO of Longneng. “After trying out other biogas upgrading technologies, we believe Greenlane’s systems will provide better methane recovery and will be a more environmentally friendly process. This is very important to us as we provide farmers with an alternative to burning their crop stalks which contributes to air pollution. We take the crop waste and turn it into eco-fuel or electricity.”
“Longneng has a very interesting business model with positive environmental attributes and we are excited by the prospect of working with them,” said Brent Jaklin, Managing Director for Greenlane Biogas North America. “China is an emerging market for RNG projects as the government enacts stricter emission regulations and promotes the use of clean energy to reduce coal dependence following heavy air pollution in the country. Given these market conditions, we look forward to exploring future opportunities and expanding our presence in this region.”
Greenlane Biogas upgrading systems are offered as five standard modular units to produce biomethane, a renewable natural gas, of the highest quality. Based on an environmentally friendly process that uses water and no chemicals to remove impurities, the high efficiency upgrading system produces biomethane with purity > 98%.
